Survey: GERB Set to Dominate Next Parliament with 80 Deputies, WCC-DB to Lose More Seats
The upcoming composition of the 50th National Assembly projects GERB to secure 80 seats, a slight increase from their current 69
Parliament is to vote Wednesday on the Cabinet reshuffle demanded by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Friday last week.
Bulgarian MPs are to vote on the resignations of Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and Stefan Konstantinov, Health Minister, who are to be replaced by Delyan Dobrev and Desislava Atanasova, respectively.
In order to pass, the changes need to be approved by a total of 121 MPs.
Center-right ruling party GERB currently has 117 MPs and will rely on the support of independent MPs.
The oppositional Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party, the right-wing Blue Coalition and nationalist party Ataka will vote against the proposed reshuffle.
The opposition opposes both the removal of Traikov and Konstantinov and the new nominees, saying that the changes will not alter what they see as flawed policies and will not introduce the necessary reforms.
