The Bulgarian government has decided to prepare a new procedure for granting the entire Plovdiv Airport under concession.
On Wednesday, the concession-granting procedure for the construction of a cargo zone at the airport was terminated due to the lack of interest on the part of investors.
The procedure was suspended after no candidates showed up by the twice-extended deadline of December 07, 2011.
According to a forecast of news portal dnevnik.bg, the scenario will repeat itself in the tenders for the concessions on the airports in Ruse and Gorna Oryahovica, which are also plagued by the lack of investor interest.
Regarding Plovdiv's case, Bulgaria's Transport Ministry plans to award one concession contract on the Plovdiv Airport and the construction of a cargo zone, according to Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski.
He told journalists on Friday that the airport had already attracted investor interest, unlike the cargo zone.
