Energy, trade, construction, and military collaboration are the major topics of discussion at the meeting of the Bulgarian-Russian Inter-Governmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Partnership, held in Moscow.
The two delegations are led by Bulgaria's Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shmatko.
The session comes on the heels of the Tuesday scandal surrounding negotiations between the National Electric Company (NEK) and the Russian "Atomstroyexport" on the project to build a second Nuclear Power Plant, NPP, in the Danube town of Belene in Bulgaria.
The official agenda, announced by the Bulgarian cabinet before the scandal, included energy projects, natural gas supplies, joint operations at the other Bulgarian NPP - Kozloduy. The delegation members were approved by the Council of Ministers last Wednesday.
Other talks include tourism, transport, IT, and farming, but Belene now is expected to top the agenda.
The schedule also includes signing an agreement on cabinet level for the organizing of repairs, modifications, and modernization of the "MI-17," and "MI-35" helicopters on Bulgarian territory, so that Bulgarian plants can do repairs for third countries as well.
