Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry has issued recommendations for Bulgarian citizen to limit or desist from traveling to Libya, due to the rising tension in the country.
According to the statement, the regions near Benghazi, Al Bayda, Derna, Tobruk and Al Marj have fallen under control of local tribes, which oppose the government.
The Foreign Ministry has also warned that traveling to the capital Tripoli by land is dangerous and is not recommended without security measures.
"We also recommend nationals to limit traveling to the regions near the Libyan borders with Chad, Sudan, Niger and Algeria. The tension in Tripoli is rising rapidly. There is a general danger of terrorist attacks, including in areas, inhabited or frequently visited by foreigners," the statement said.
Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry has also stated that Libyan authorities might impose restrictions of movement.
"We recommend all Bulgarian citizens to leave the country with civil flights to Europe, if possible. We also recommend the nationals who make this decision, to inform the Foreign Ministry or Bulgaria's Embassy to Tripoli where they are traveling to or where they have landed, so that we can help them at place," the statement said.
Bulgarians who live temporary or permanently in Libya are also advised to abstain of visiting public places and to avoid contact with protesters.
The Foreign Ministry has stated that possible options for evacuation will be announced on all possible channels, including on Bulgarian satellite televisions.
