Bulgaria Govt Wants Greater Economic Interaction with Egypt
Bulgaria wants to forge ever closer ties with Egypt, especially in economic exchange, stated PM Boyko Borisov during Wednesday's visit to Sofia of Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Earlier Wednesday Aboul Gheit met Bulgarian counterpart Nikolay Mladenov, who stressed on the traditional friendship between the two nations.
"Egypt is a country with which Bulgaria has long-term traditional economic and political relations. But during the most recent years the level of our economic interaction has dropped," commented Mladenov.
"We consider Egypt as a key country whose significance goes beyond regional proportions," stated the Bulgarian foreign affairs minister.
PM Borisov, on his part, emphasized that Bulgaria is very attractive in terms of foreign investment, while the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs said that given the current economic growth of his country, it is very interested in investing abroad.
Minister Aboul Gheit in particular expressed his country's readiness and desire to support Bulgaria in its projects in the field of energy.
This is the first visit of an Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Bulgaria for the last 34 years.
The two Ministers of Foreign Affairs also discussed the upcoming visit of Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov to Egypt in February 2011.
