Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
The Russian energy giant "Gazprom" does not plan to lower gas prices for Bulgaria any further, the Head of the company's International Business Department, Stanislav Tsigankov, says.
Tsigankov, cited Tuesday by the Bulgarian National radio, BNR, pointed out gas prices for Bulgaria are the lowest in Europe and they actually are preferential prices.
"Right now there are no special circumstances to put the issue on the table again. The contract is effective and we recently updated prices and reached an agreement. We do not foresee any more changes, It must be just political talk," he pointed out.
During the summer, Bulgaria received a 4% rebate of the price of half of the delivered quantities, effective with a backdate of July, 2010.
Last week, after talks with the Gazprom CEO, Alexey Miller in Sofia, Bulgaria's Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov, stated new prices depend on the Russian energy company's "good will," adding for the new contracts, effective 2013, prices would be renegotiated again.
After meeting Traikov and Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, the CEO refused to discuss gas prices with the media.
