BNB: Bulgaria Must Join the Eurozone As Soon As Possible To Avoid the Losses of Billions
This was stated by the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank at the international conference "Bulgaria in the Eurozone, When?" in Sofia
The Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Ivan Iskrov was decorated with the highest state distinction of Belgium, the Order of Léopold.
The Order was created in 1832, bearing the name of the first king of Belgium, Léopold I and is reserved for persons of exceptional merit to the Belgian nation.
Iskrov received it as a recognition for his efforts in maintaining monetary stability in Bulgaria and creating favorable conditions for Belgian investors, as well as for cultivating excellent relations between the Belgian and Bulgarian National Banks.
The BNB Governor is the first Bulgarian to receive such a high decoration.
The Order of Léopold is awarded by Belgian royal decree and was bestowed to Iskrov Thursday by the Belgian Ambassador in Sofia Marc Michielsen. The official ceremony was attended by Bulgarian MPs, Minister of Finance Simeon Dyankov, the members of the BNB Governing Council, and representatives of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria.
