Two officials of Bulgaria's Ministry of Education will be dismissed over high school ending exam fraud, the Education Minister announced Monday.
Minitser Sergey Ignatov announced Monday that Asen Petrov and Krasimir Lefterov are the two officials who have leaked information about the high school ending exam that took place in May.
Asen Petrov has been responsible for transforming the exam in Braille format for the Special School for children with impaired eyes “Lui Brayl” in Sofia. He has already been disciplinary dismissed.
The same procedure will be applied to Lefterov who is the chief accountant of the Ministry.
The Bulgarian police, together with the Ministry of Education, started an investigation after high school senior, parents and teachers announced that before the day of the exam, questions and answers have been traded on the Internet for BGN 600.
Minister Ignatov announced that his Ministry received an official report by the Bulgarian Unit for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) on Thursday.
“I signed the order for the dismissal of Petrov from the Education of Ministry today,” Ignatov said, adding that the same procedure is being prepared for Lefterov as well.
The minister noted that Lefterov refused to undergo a polygraph study in the last minute and Petrov's results confirmed that he has lied that he did not leak information about the exam.
