Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov was left behind by his driver during his Wednesday's visit to Jerusalem as a sign of protest.
Mladenov became the victim of an “unorthodox” strike of Foreign Ministry employees as their syndicate has insisted on salary raises for about six months, reported the Bulgarian channel bTV.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry employees have been protesting for several days by showing up to work in jeans and sandals while the institution's drivers leave the foreign guests.
Thus, Mladenov discovered he was left without transportation as he came out of the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. The same happened with the wife of the Estonian President two days ago.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is said to have had it the worst since because of the striking protocol department there was neither a Russian flag, nor a red carpet at the airport when he was “welcomed” recently in Israel.
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov was in Isreal on Tuesday and Wednesday, visiting Ramallah in the Palestinian Authority after that.
