Somali pirates have put the Asian Glory ship out into the open sea in order to use it as a “mother ship” for their raids.

This has been reported by Sunday by RIA Novosti. The Asian Glory ship was hijacked by Somali pirates on January 1, 2010, with 8 Bulgarian sailors on board, some 1 100 km off Somalia's coast and 1 600 km off the Seychelles. 10 Ukrainians were also aboard the ship.

The Bulgarian representative of the UK ship operator company Zodiac, which manages the Asian Glory ship, said he had no information of the Somali pirates using the vessel for their raids.

Another Bulgarian-manned ship - St. James Park - with 5 Bulgarian sailors was hijacked on December 29, 2009.
