Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
The revenue of Bulgaria's Black Sea municipalities is suffering from the 20% decline of tourists visiting the country's sea resorts.
This has been announced by Atanas Stoilov, Mayor of the Aksakovo Municipality near Varna, and Chair of the Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities (UBBSLA).
Stoilov said the Bulgarian tourism entrepreneurs wanted a joint strategy for the 2010 summer season.
He noted that many tourism businessmen had said they underestimated the scope of the economic crisis because they had been misled by representatives of the government of Sergey Stanishev.
The UBBSLA Chair believes that the best way to attract more tourists to Bulgaria in 2010 would be the crafting of a strategy by a joint team of the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, the business organizations, and the Black Sea Mayors.
