Bulgaria: Caretaker Prime Minister Replaced Chairman of State Agency for National Security
The Chairman of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Dimitar Georgiev was relieved of his post following a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Director of Bulgaria's State National Security Agency (DANS), Petko Sertov, has reportedly handed in his resignation.
It is alleged that Sertov handed in his resignation Friday in a meeting with new Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov. It is not certain whether his resignation will be accepted, Darik Radio reported.
In the meeting Sertov allegedly gave Borisov a full account of the work of DANS over the last six months and then handed in his resignation.
DANS spokesperson Zoya Dimitrova confirmed Saturday that a meeting between Borisov and Sertov had taken place but stated that Sertov had not resigned. She also stated on Friday that Borisov had not requested Sertov to resign.
