The leader of the GERB party, Boyko Borisov, was elected Monday the new Bulgarian Prime Minister after a vote in Parliament.Borisov was elected Prime Minister with 162 votes in favor, 77 votes against, and 1 abstaining in a vote in which all 240 members of the Bulgarian Parliament took part.

Borisov was supported by the GERB party with 116 MPs, the Ataka party with 21 MPs, the Blue Coalition with 15 MS, and the RZS party with 10 MPs.

1 of the 40 MPs of the Socialist-led Coalition for Bulgaria abstained; the other Socialist MPs and the 38 MPs of the ethnic Turkish DPS party voted against.
