The entire leadership of the New Time party handed in their resignations to the party's Executive Bureau Friday.

The Party's Chair, Emil Koshlukov, and Deputy Chairs, Miroslav Sevliievski, Yuliana Doncheva and Krasen Kralev, are resigning in the aftermath of the July 5 general elections.

New Time ran on a joined ballot with the LIDER party of Bulgaria's energy tycoon, Hristo Kovachki, but they failed to overcome the 4% threshold needed to win seats in the Parliament.

In an official statement, the political party New Times thanks its supporters, the people who believed in them and voted for them.

"We thank you for the trust. We promise to never betray the cause of creating a modern Bulgaria, for which we have fought since the first day of our party's founding," the statement reads.

The New Times further informs that they held a meeting of the Executive Bureau on July 9 and made the decision to convene the National Party Council on September 5.
