Iran Interested in Pumping Gas to Bulgaria-Greece Link
Iran is seriously interested in delivering gas to the interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria, the latter country's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has announced.
Bulgaria will seek to turn the proposed Nabucco pipeline meant to supply Europe with gas into a project of national significance.
The government will consider the proposal, tabled by Economy and Energy Minister Petar Dimitrov, at its meeting on Thursday.
Turkey announced earlier in the week that it has reached agreement with several European countries over the terms of the proposed Nabucco pipeline. An intergovernmental agreement has been scheduled to be signed in Ankara on July 13.
Turkey has been negotiating gas transit fees and other issues with Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria, with the participation of Germany, since January.
Nabucco pipeline is due to bring gas from the Caspian Sea to Austria via Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
Azerbaijan as a possible supplier country is involved in the current talks.
