Bulgargaz Forecasts 5-6% Dip in Natural Gas Prices for May
Bulgargaz, the leading public gas supplier in Bulgaria, anticipates a notable decrease in the price of natural gas for the upcoming month of May. According to Lyudmila Vitanova
Bulgaria's natural gas prices might go down by 33,14% starting July 1, 2009, according to a report of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).
This price reduction was proposed to the Commission by the Bulgarian state-owned gas monopoly Bulgargaz at the beginning of June. If it is implemented, this will be the greatest ever reduction of natural gas prices in Bulgaria compared to a previous quarter.
Thus, Bulgaria's natural gas prices are suggested to be BGN 365,03 per 1 000 cubic meters without the VAT. Compared to the second quarter of 2009, the 33,14% decrease means a reduction of BGN 180,94 per 1 000 cubic meters without the VAT.
The proposed new gas prices include a fee for transit through the Bulgarian gas network of BGN 19,73 per 1 000 cubic meters.
The proposed new prices will be considered on June 23 during a meeting of the DKEVR, which will be open to the public.
