Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo Highway Construction Starts Today
Excitement mounts as the Regional Ministry announces the commencement of the much-anticipated highway construction linking Ruse to Veliko Tarnovo, set to kick off this Sunday.
The student who has been diagnosed as the first person in Bulgaria to have swine flu is being treated at a hospital in Veliko Tarnovo.
The hospital Director, Dr. Daniel Iliev, confirmed that the patient, 21-year-old Ivan Dimitrov, is in his care and has been isolated. The A (H1N1) flu has not reached Dimitrov's central nervous system Dr. Iliev stated, cited by Darik Radio.
Dimitrov, who is a student at Pennsylvania University in the US, arrived back from New York on a flight via Amsterdam on May 27.
His first flu symptoms appeared on May 29, and he sought medical help on May 30 for the first time. The flu case was confirmed by tests carried out in Sofia.
Bulgaria's medical authorities have identified and examined the 4 persons who have been in close contact with the infected man. None of them has shown any symptoms of the swine flu but all four are under permanent observation.
The Health Ministry states that its employees examine all sorts of patients with symptoms similar to A(H1N1), and that it is going to inform the Bulgarian public in a timely manner about a potential epidemic situation.
