Sacred Observance: Bulgaria Commemorates Good Friday with Reverence
Today marks Good Friday in Bulgaria, a day of solemn reflection and reverence as Christians commemorate the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ
Bulgarian children are among the unhappiest in Europe according to the latest UK research results announced late Tuesday.
The research, focusing on youngsters aged up to 19, was compiled by researchers at York University in northern England for the Child Poverty Action Group using data mainly from 2006.
The researchers assessed the countries using 43 separate criteria, ranging from infant mortality and obesity to factors such as poverty and housing.
The results from the research revealed that Bulgarian children are among the poorest and unhappiest children in Europe. Out of 29 countries studied Bulgaria came out in 26th position, only above Latvia, Lithuania and Malta.
Poverty, health and education are some of the main things that make Bulgarian children unhappy according to the report.
UK children also ranked as some of the most unhappy, being ranked just above Bulgaria in 24th position.
Children in the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway are the happiest and grow up in tranquillity and peace, the research concluded.
