Bulgaria recorded 0,2% deflation in March, the National Statistical Institute reported.

The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (March 2009, compared to December 2008) is 0,6%, and the the year-on-year rate for March 2009 is estimated 4,9%.

The biggest increase of prices is that of alcohol beverages and tobacco goods (2,3%), and of clothes and shoes (1,3%). Transportation has became cheaper by 2,2%, as well as electricity, natural gas, and other fuels, which prices went down by 1%.

The average inflation rate for the period April 2008 - March 2009, compared to April 2007 - March 2008 is 10,1%.
