Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has said there are plans to "hopefully" film a sequel to the hit movie about the four New York women next year, BBC reported Friday.

"We will do the sequel next summer," the 52-year-old actress said in an interview for a TV show.

Cattrall stated also that everyone was committed to the first film and that they were planning to do it again.

Sex and the City: The Movie, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, was a huge hit in the UK and US earlier this year.

The film was based on the hit US TV series, which centres around the lives of writer Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) and her friends, Samantha (Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis).

In September the film was announced as the fastest-selling DVD of 2008 in the UK, shifting more than 920,000 copies on its first week of release.
