There are no underground galleries at the military storage facility near Sofia that was rocked by an explosion on Thursday and there were no underground blasts, Bulgaria's Defence Minister Nikolay Tsonev reported.

Tsonev rejected claims that a tremor felt in the capital around 3 pm was actually an underground explosion at the facility near the Sofia district of Chelopechene.

According to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the latest tremor in Sofia was a result of a light earthquake. It was 3.2-strong and was registered about 10 kilometres away from downtown Sofia.

Thursday morning, several minutes before 7 am, the Bulgarian capital was shaken by powerful gunpowder explosions, which were heard and felt in the whole city after the Chelopechene military facility, where tons of ammo and TNT were stored, was engulfed by flames.
