The Sofia Mayor and informal leader of the GERB party said Friday that the EU was highly critical towards Bulgaria and that the upcoming report of the European Commission would be censorious.
He made the statement after the end of his participation at the European People's Party forum in Brussels, where he met with leading rightist EU politicians including Angela Merkel, Silvio Berlusconi, and Costas Caramanlis.
Borisov said the introduction of the LOTAR system, special software controlling the spending of EU money by the Bulgarian administration, was really humiliating because there was no greater downfall than the situation in which each minister was scrutinized over suspicions of frauds with the funds.
"The EU has not changed its attitude to our country in spite of the government's PR program and the tour of the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev in the USA," Borissov explained on Friday as he opened the rehabilitated Nikola Gabrovski Street in Sofia.
The repair works at the street were completed in 33 days, and were worth BGN 560 000.
