Bulgaria's first video surveillance network covering a whole city was officially launched on Monday in the country's Black Sea capital of Varna.

The city-wide video surveillance system was opened by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev and the Interior Minister Mihail Mikov.

At the opening Mikov announced that thanks to the street cameras network, which has been partially in operation for several months, three suspects wanted by the INTERPOL had been captured in Varna since March.

However, the Minister declined to disclose who the suspects were, and what crimes they had been accused of.
