A group of Bulgarians will be sued in the US capital Washington D.C. over allegations of money laundering, Internet frauds, and conspiracy.

The six Bulgarian and one Romanian citizens deceived Internet buyers of the e-bay website, the bTV channel reported.

They published ads about the sale of luxury cars and boats, which redirected the potential buyers to another website resembling e-bay but having nothing to do with it, where the buyers made their payments but did not receive anything.

In this way the group managed to steal over USD 800 000. Its members are also accused of issuing fake passports and driver's licenses of Canada, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovenia, Italy, UK, and Lithuania.

With these fake IDs, the Bulgarians managed to open bank accounts in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic through which they laundered the money from the Internet frauds.

The first arrest of one of the members of the organized crime group took place in Hungary in March of 2007, when FBI agents detained Mariyana Lozanova. Later Georgi and Ivaylo Plentnyov, Nikolay Minchev, Georgi Georgiev, and Antoaneta Getova were also arrested.

If they are found guilty, each of them might receive a sentence of up to 30 years in prison and fines of several hundred USD.
