The Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev met Monday with the newly appointed Interior Minister Mihail Mikov to discuss Mikov's ideas for the reorganization and optimization of the Ministry's work, the cabinet press service announced.

The main emphasis was placed on Mikov's views on how to increase the efficiency of the Bulgarian police, and to restore the public confidence in the Interior Ministry.

Some of the proposals of the new Interior Minister include the placing of more policemen in the streets, and the reorganization of the traffic police (KAT). The idea behind them is to guarantee the public peace, to contain tensions caused by the increased levels of traffic, and to improve road safety.

Mihail Mikov has also informed the PM about the meetings he had held with the Deputy Ministers of the Interior, the Directors of National Security Services, and of the special Directorates of the Interior.
