CNN reporter Richard Quest is to undergo six months of counselling after being arrested in Central Park for possession of drugs, BBC reported Monday.
According to New York Post the journalist had a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals and a sex toy in his boot.
Since the park is closed between 1 and 6 am, Quest and a male associate were stopped by police and charged with loitering.
"I've got some meth in my pocket," the reporter allegedly voluntarily admitted.
NY Police spokesman said officers discovered a plastic bag containing what was believed to be methamphetamine in his pocket.
Quest's lawyer said his client "did not realise" the park had a curfew and was on his way back to his hotel after being out with friends.
State Court Judge Anthony Ferrara told Quest the case would be dismissed if he attended counselling.
The detainee is a well-known business news reporter on CNN International and hosts CNN Business Traveller and his own feature program called "Quest".
