Bulgaria's police detained Friday the man, who shot his wife and sister dead and injured his son in the Danube town of Ruse four days ago.

Unconfirmed reports claim Georgi Shiklov, 59, was nabbed in a small forest between the villages of Novo Selo and Tetovo.

The detainee tried to attack the policemen at the time of the arrest. They have also found a gun in his car.

The tragedy occurred late Sunday when during a family brawl the killer took out a gun and shot in the head his 72-year-old sister and 52-year-old wife.

The man also shot his 25-year-old son in the back but doctors managed to save the victim's life.

The girlfriend of the suspect's son was also in the apartment during the incident but managed to run away.

Police assume the aggressive behavior of Shiklov was provoked by a row with the youngest son in the family, who was soon released from prison after serving a sentence imposed over drug distribution.

The second version the authorities work on is related to a forthcoming divorce of the shooter and his wife.
