Another Private Executive Magistrate Targeted in Bulgaria

Crime | May 31, 2007, Thursday // 00:00

The office of a Bulgarian private executive magistrate from the coastal town of Burgas has been set on fire, Darik News reported.

An unidentified assaulter hurled an inflammable bottle into the office of Petar Bakalov, setting it on flames.

This is the second assault against a private executive magistrate in Bulgaria for the last week. On Monday the vehicle of Aneliya Mincheva, which was parked in Daratsite neighbourhood in the town of Pernik, burned down after being set on fire.

An investigation into the two incidents has been launched.

Bulgaria's Penal Code bestows on private executive magistrates the same status as that of a judge or a prosecutor and provides for the harshest punishments in case of violations against them.
