Alcatel Sues Microsoft to USD 1,5 B Recovery

Microsoft Corporation has been sentenced to pay USD 1,5 B recovery to the French telecommunication company "Alcatel" for illegal usage of two audio patents.
The software giant, which is owned by world richest magnate Bill Gates, was not licensed to utilize the patents for converting musical files into MP3 ones, the US court decided.
Microsoft however announced that they have bought the license of the technology concerned for USD 16 M from a German company.
The sentenced company mulls an appeal against the court's decision.
