Russian Sibir Airlines denied reports of a foiled plot to hijack a plane flying from Varna to Moscow, Darik News reported.
Bulgaria's Interior Ministry announced a day earlier that its special services prevented August 30 a plot to hijack a plane flying from Varna, on the Black Sea coast, to Moscow. Cartridges were found in the luggage of a Russian elderly woman, travelling with her granddaughter.
Sibir Airlines and Pulkovskie Airlines were the only companies that flew to Moscow that day.
"We have no information of a prevented terrorist act aboard a plane of Sibir Airlines," Darik News cited a representative of the company in Bulgaria, who claimed anonymity.
According to him it is wrong to describe an attempt to carry cartridges as a terrorist act.
