Bulgaria Bids Farewell to Alexander Fol

More than three hundred Bulgarians gathered in the lobby of St. Sofia hall of the National Assembly to pay their last respect to Prof. Alexander Fol, who passed away March 1 at the age of 72. Alexander Fol, founder of the interdicipline research field called thracology, was one of Bulgaria's best known Classical scholars. He is founder and former head of the Institute of Thracology with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Alexander Fol served as culture deputy minister and education minister from 1980 till 1986. Correspondent of the German Archaeological Institute, member of the Leibniz-Institute in Berlin and a number of other foreign academies. Founder of the National Classical Lyceum of Ancient Languages and Cultures, Sofia.
