Abu Hafs al Masri Brigade, the group that claimed responsibility for the London attacks, issued an ultimatum to coalition members to withdraw their troops from Iraq within a month. The statement appeared on a website linked to the brigade, named after an Egyptian al-Qaeda commander married to one of Osama bin Laden's daughters, who was killed by US bombs in Afghanistan in 2001. The new threats aimed at Italy, Denmark and the United Kingdom. "Withdraw the troops. We give you one month. Then we will act, starting a bloody war at the heart of Europe", the statement began, as cited by Italian online media. "This is a statement directed at the European countries after the attacks which struck London and which regard the other crusader cities whose soldiers are still in Iraq. We renew the ultimatum we have previously issued, giving you a month to review your positions concerning Islam and the Muslim people." The message goes on to say, "We will strike the cities of Europe in defence of the Muslim people in reaction to the terrible conditions they are living in, from the Arab Gulf to Morocco." The statement also specifies that the countries most at risk are "Denmark, Great Britain, Italy and other countries who still have armies on Iraqi soil."
