Bulgaria Foils Ancient Icons Smuggling

Bulgarian customs officers at the Sofia Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle four precious icons to Spain. Three of the valuable icons were dated back to the 17-18th century and one of them was created in the 19th century, customs officials announced. The icons were found in a parcel that was to be sent to Spain. That is the twelfth foiled case for smuggling of highly valuable pieces of art out of Bulgaria since the beginning of 2004.
