Spanish Companies Seek Bulgarian Partners in Rebuilding Iraq

Spanish companies are willing to work together with Bulgarian engineering companies for the construction of road network and telecommunication infrastructure during the reconstruction of post-war Iraq, Pavel Ezekiev, director of the Foreign Investments Agency, said after his meeting with representatives of Spain's second and third biggest construction companies.

Pavel Ezekiev took part in an investment seminar called "Bulgaria, Romania - future members of the European Union", which took place in Madrid April 10-11. Iliya Vassilev, Director of Bulgaria's sale body Privatization Agency, and Bulgaria's Ambassador to Spain Vassilij Takev also attended the seminar. Over 90 Spanish companies joined the seminar, mainly from the energy, infrastructure, environment, tourism sectors.

The seminar aimed to present Bulgaria's investment climate and is part of the preparations for the forthcoming visit of King Juan Carlos of Spain in Bulgaria.

At the end of March King Juan Carlos of Spain postponed his visit to Bulgaria. The King and his wife were expected to arrive on a two-day official visit to Bulgaria between March 30 and April 1 at the invitation of President Parvanov.

A new date is yet to be set, the royal visit is likely to take place in June or July.
