Bulgaria Grapples with Soaring Corruption Rates: New Report Reveals Shocking Data
Corruption in Bulgaria has soared to its third highest peak in history, according to a recent report by the Center for the Study of Democracy
There are sufficient quantities of vaccines available in the country, deliveries are regularly carried out by all manufacturers. The "green corridors" for vaccination will continue to function. Director of the Bulgarian Drug Agency Bogdan Kirilov assured the arrival of another 273,780 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be on time.
More vaccines are expected this week: on May 12 - 12,000 doses of Janssen vaccine, on May 13 - 36,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine and 45,600 of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
As of today, the immunization of those who are registered in the national information portal began.
A preferred vaccine can be selected and Pfizer/BioNTech is the most desired vaccine. Currently, there are sufficient quantities of vaccines to keep the "green corridors" functioning and all persons who want to receive a vaccine will have it, Kirilov stressed.
Janssen vaccine (a total of 26,400 doses currently and before deliveries) will not be provided for the "green corridors". The vaccine is aimed for people employed in the tourism industry.
Since the beginning of May, about 125,000 people have been vaccinated, many of them used the "green corridors". There are enough quantities available in the country, deliveries are carried out regularly by all producers, Kirilov also assured.
The European Medicines Agency is making efforts to assist manufacturers in increasing production capacity. At European level, opportunities are being discussed, to apply mechanisms of donation of vaccines and resale where there is an excess of vaccines, explained Kirilov. According to him, 50% of the quantities that are delivered are allocated to general practitioners. The regularity of the deliveries will ensure greater predictability for both GPs and employees of the RHI, Bogdan Kirilov assured.
The agreement reached by the EC with the leaders of the Member States and the producer company is actually working, Kirilov said. About 5.5 million doses are expected for the second quarter, and Kirilov hopes that these deliveries will be carried out. About 420,000 doses are expected from the Moderna. For May alone, deliveries of the four vaccines are about 2 million, and 2.5 million doses of vaccines are expected to arrive in June.
