Bulgaria: Bulgarian Online Vaccination Registry Finally Working

The administration of COVID-19 jabs to those who signed up for vaccination in the electronic system started on Monday (May 10), after this was not possible during the weekend due to the so-called "green corridors" with free access for everyone.

This was announced by the director of the Executive Agency for Medicines Bogdan Kirilov at a briefing upon receiving 273,780 doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine.

According to him, data showed that green corridors can continue to work due to the large supply of vaccines against COVID-19 in the country.

However, Kirilov clarified that the final decision has not been made yet, and this will happen in the course of the day.

The Ministry of Health should then specify a schedule of vaccination points for green corridors.

According to the data presented by Kirilov, this week there will be deliveries of vaccines to other manufacturers whose products are approved for use in the European Union:

- 12,000 doses of the Jansen vaccine

- 36,000 doses of the vaccine of "Moderna"

- 45,000 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine

If the green corridors are extended, it is not yet known how their action will be combined with the hours recorded in the electronic registry, as the time of registered appointments through the portal may coincide with a queue in front of a vaccination center.

"All logistical features are being discussed," said Bogdan Kirilov.

However, it is now known that in all probability the single-dose vaccine of "Jansen" will not be offered in the green corridors and to those who have registered in the electronic register, because it is set aside for the representatives of the tourism industry.

Reasoning - because only one injection is given, it is thought that protection against complications from COVID-19 is achieved more quickly.

From Kirilov's statement it became clear that from today a digital web portal is expected to work, through which GPs can put forward their needs  for COVID vaccines.

The claim of the health authorities is that this will make it easier for general practitioners - on the one hand, not to go several times to the regional health inspectorates (RHI) to get their vials, and on the other hand, not to line up in long ques as it has happened before Easter.
