Bulgaria: Greece: Ferry Line from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Starts Operating from 1 June

A new ferry line will run three times a week from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Islands. The first ferries will depart on June 1, and the seasonal route will be available until September 15.

The Sporades is an island complex located in the northwest Aegean Sea and it includes the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and further south the island of Skyros.

Authorities also said that a route from Thessaloniki to the islands in the North Aegean region, which includes the islands of Lesbos, Chios, Psara, Lemnos, Samos and several other smaller islands, is also planned.

In the meantime, the new rules for traveling by ferry, which will start the summer season in Greece, have become clear. Greek Minister of Shipping Yanis Plakiotakis announced that, for a start, ferries with cabins will run at 55% capacity and those without cabins at 50% capacity. To be admitted on board, passengers will need to present a digital green certificate or the result of a rapid test, including one suitable for home use. The rules for sailing will change depending on the epidemic situation, the minister added.
