Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
A 10-kilometer long line of TIR trucks formed last night at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint at Ruse.
The processing of the documents has not been interrupted and according to the border authorities the reason for the traffic jam is that carriers are rushing to deliver their goods to Western Europe before the Catholic Easter.
This morning, the line of waiting trucks was about 8 kilometers long, which means that some of them managed to pass through the border crossing. The bridge’s throughput capacity is low - it has only two lanes, which significantly complicates traffic.
What further complicates the situation on the road, which is the Ruse-Silistra exit, is the fact that the TIR trucks have stopped in both lanes, making passage difficult to people traveling to the two industrial zones in the city, as well as to the neighboring settlements.
Drivers who have had to wait at the border crossing are travelling mainly to Romania. They proposed building a buffer parking lot where they could wait and not make it difficult for other traffic.
At the Danube Bridge border checkpoint operate four lanes are operating, there are no difficulties with the computer system and the processing of documents goes on smoothly. The situation on the Romanian side is similar.
