Roma should be better represented in the media, state institutions and political organizations, say MEPs, NOVA TV reported.

The fundamental rights of the Roma remain constantly violated in the EU. This is stated by the European Parliament in a resolution adopted on Tuesday.

There are significant barriers to access to education, housing, the labor market and health care. The EP calls for clearer targets for Roma inclusion and for national strategies beyond 2020, the BTA said in a statement from the institution.

"The Roma should be better represented in the media, state institutions and political organizations," MEPs insist on more serious measures to fight anti-Roma sentiment in the EU, "an institutionalized and rooted form of racism, which is expressed in violence, speech of hatred, exploitation, stigmatization and discrimination, "says the adopted text.

School exclusion, access to the labor market, housing and health care are among the main obstacles to Roma in Europe. The EP also notes the particularly difficult situation of young Roma, increasingly among whom they do not work or do not study.

MEPs urge the EC and EU countries to propose clear and binding targets, deadlines and tools to assess progress on Roma inclusion. They believe that significant public funds and human resources are needed to achieve these goals.

The EP calls for gender mainstreaming and the use of a child-directed approach in the EU's strategic framework. MEPs insist on increased participation by representatives of Roma and non-governmental organizations in the development of inclusion policies.

The document mentions the need to protect and promote equal access to all rights for Roma children. There is a call for specific anti-discrimination targets, as well as measures to involve Roma in environmental and digital society policies.

EU structural funds must be used to improve living conditions and future opportunities for Roma, MEPs note. They call on EU countries to investigate abuse of funds and take legal action against offenders.
