The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria has endorsed today a statement expressing the country’s support for Juan Guaido as interim president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, said the government press office.
The country is in a deep political, socio-economic, humanitarian and security crisis, in addition with a severe migration crisis over the last year. On 26 January 2019, the EU, including Bulgaria, called for the urgent holding of free, transparent and fair presidential elections in Venezuela.
Given the overall crisis in Venezuela and the need for swift and adequate political measures to resolve it, Bulgaria supports Juan Guaido as the country's acting president, the statement reads.
