Bulgaria: "Democratic Bulgaria" Undertakes Measures Against Mass Sale of Scratch Lottery Tickets Pixabay.com

The new right-wing "Democratic Bulgaria" unification offers limited advertising on gambling and the sale of lottery tickets. The formation has sent a draft of amendments to the Gambling Act to the President of the National Assembly and all parliamentary groups. The most important change, which the Democrats insist, is that gambling and lottery tickets are sold only in gambling halls or bets establishments, reports Mediapool.

The idea is that the points in question only deal with gambling activities and that other business activity is prohibited. This would seriously limit the current mass distribution of lottery tickets and lottery games of companies with the participation of Vasil Bozhkov "National Lottery" and "Lottery Bulgaria" because they are distributed in a wide variety of retail outlets.

"At present, special requirements for the distribution of gambling are observed only at the location and spacing of schools and homes for children, which in practice protects the distribution of lottery tickets and games, regardless of the importance of facilitated access by defenseless public groups," comment "Democratic Bulgaria".

"A similar imperative change is also introduced in the distribution of the territory of and in the vicinity of public and municipal property, as well as medical establishments, which aim to harmonize the criteria for the organization and distribution of gambling, regardless of the particular type of game". The formation also offers a restriction on gambling advertising. The aim is to treat this activity on an equal footing with the advertising of tobacco and alcohol.

"The mandatory ban on advertising of gambling games will align the regulation with the European one in this direction and will give optimally restrictive access for promotion and dissemination through the mass media," comment from Democratic Bulgaria.

Their specific suggestion is that gambling advertising can not be broadcast by electronic media before 10 pm.

Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Simeonov has announced that he believes there should be a restriction of gambling advertising, and ten days ago he added that he is due to submit to Parliament amendments to two laws - gambling and radio and television.
