Bulgaria: Police is Still Searching the Two Dangerous Criminals Who Escaped From the Central Sofia Prison

There is no trace of the two dangerous criminals who escaped from the Central Sofia prison. The search continues. It is already nationwide.

Vladimir Pelov and Radoslav Kolev escaped through the central entrance of the prison after they went to take a shipment in a special room for this purpose, where they attacked and threatened the guard.

Criminalists say they are aggressive, armed and dangerous.

Novinite.com recalls that two days ago in the Central Sofia prison two dangerous recidivists armed with firearm threatened the guards and escaped like in a Hollywood action movie.

It is not clear how they got weapons. The escape occurred while their relatives were visiting them and giving them a TV set. One after the other three guards were attacked. Luckily no one was wounded. The prison staff chased the fugitives but did not catch up with them, explained Deputy Minister of Justice Nikolay Prodanov, who is responsible for the places of imprisonment. One of those who tried unsuccessfully to stop them is the jail cleaner. Eventually, the fugitives went through a door that was generally kept open, explained Prodanov. According to the Prosecutor's Office, they have gone through several posts in the corps they were locked in before they get to the street. Probably help was waiting for them on the outside. The guards did not shoot because there were many cars and pedestrians on the street.

Both fugitives have been convicted of serious crimes - murder, attempted murder of policemen, robbery and kidnapping. One is the famous criminal of Botevgrad Vladimir Pelov Stefanov. He served a conviction for robbery and attempted murder of police officers. Previously, he was sentenced to 15 years for killing a cambist. Pelov was also suspected of killing two brothers in Botevgrad in 2016. Then Prime Minister Boyko Borissov personally claimed that there was a suspected recidivist. The other fugitive - Radoslav Angelov Kolev - has a 26-year sentence for murdering a 15-year-old girl at a bus stop in Pernik two years ago. Earlier, he had other convictions - for hooliganism and property damage. Pelov's final conviction was pronounced in May 2016. Kolev was convicted at first instance at the beginning of last year.
