Bulgaria is the first in Europe in increase of the number of prisoners in 2016. This is the data from the annual statistics of the European Council published today.
Compared to the previous year, the number of prisoners in Bulgaria in 2016 has increased by 10.8%.
Following us, 9.5% remains Turkey, which in 2016 is experienced an unsuccessful coup attempt.
Last is Greece, where growth is less than half a percentage point.
Bulgaria is at the forefront of the highest average age of prisoners - 51 years with an average of about 35 in Europe.
Over euros 57 costs the daily allowance of one prisoner in the country at an average of 51 euros in Europe.
