Tomorrow Prison Staff go to a National Protest
A second national protest of prison staff and judicial guards will take place tomorrow in Sofia. Protesters will submit their claims to several institutions - the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance and the Council of Ministers. One group will go from the Court of Justice. The protest march on Saturday will be led by bagpipes in national costumes.
BGN 105 is the difference in the salary of a beginner in the Ministry of the Interior and in the prison system, the difference being in favor of the policeman, Plamen Hristov, deputy chairman of the trade union "Security Guard" said today to the Bulgarian National Radio.
The motto of the procession is "Europe for us too", he explained, and recalled that the employees are struggling to align the status with that of the MoI officials in terms of pay and specific working conditions.
We have been in dialogue for six months with our employer, the Ministry of Justice.
"We negotiated terms, we negotiated absolutely everything, but the turning point is January 11, 2018, when Prime Minister Boyko Borisov took out one hundred million and gave them to the interior ministry, that is, what we had achieved and thought we had negotiated - but it all collapsed and we started the conversations again, "Plamen Hristov explained.
Dissatisfaction grows tremendously because we are told that nothing can happen, he added.
"How did these 100 million extra for the interior ministry came to be? Once we are in a sector, we can not divide ourselves into first and second hand," said the guard. According to him, the 5% increase requested by Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov is extremely insufficient.
A third national protest is also being prepared on March 26, when a meeting of the judiciary ministers of the countries of the European Union will take place in Sofia.
