Bulgaria's PM 'May Stay in Office Until January'

President Rosen Plevneliev and outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borisov have pondered an option to keep the current government in office until the new head of state takes over in January, daily 24 Chasa says, citing its own sources.
The scenario has been tabled after Borisov's final decision to return the mandate to Plevneliev on Friday.
Plevneliev is leaving in January and can neither dissolve Parliament nor call early elections. He has to appoint and interim government if no other cabinet is formed within the current legislation, but his provisional administration may be changed or slighly overhauled by his successor, Rumen Radev, when the latter takes office on January 22.
After refusing the government mandate on January, Borisov and the head of his GERB party's parliamentary faction, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, stayed in the Presidency for about half an hour to talk with Plevneliev behind closed doors.
