Bulgaria: Bulgarian Court Rules Five Afghani Youths Must Remain in Custody After Harmanli Riot BGNES

The Bulgarian Court has ruled that the original 5 of the 18 Afghani youths indicted on charges for the riot in Harmanli must remain in custody.

The court decided that there is reasonable doubt that the young men, at the age of between 20 and 30, did participate in the disturbances and exhibited particular boldness and cynicism. There is danger of them influencing witnesses, if they are released and they might commit another crime.
Out of the five youths, only one has admitted that he participated in the riot last Thursday but denied that he had thrown stones.

The remaining four denied that they were among the protesters.
