Bulgaria: Outgoing Interior Minister: Harmanli Situation Will Be Resolved Soon BGNES

Another 30 gendarmerie officers will leave for Harmanli, announced outgoing Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova. She informed Parliament about the situation in the refugee centre where there were riots on Thursday.

According to Bachvarova, the situation is under control. “The ways in which the persons who provoked the tension will be placed have been determined – in other centres of the closed-type. Special measures were discussed and taken in order to repair the fence of the Harmanli Centre.”

Bachvarova pointed out that it is impossible to provide a corridor from the centre to Serbia for the migrants as they have demanded.

“It is politically impossible for this to happen, There is order and these citizens of Afghanistan, who have come illegally to our territory, must know that we are ready to assist them in a humanitarian aspect, to provide fair procedures, but they must take into consideration Bulgarian legislation and abide by it.”
