Bulgaria: Turkish Court Denies Appeal to Kurdish Leader's Arrest A Kurdish protester holds a photo depicting co-leader of the Peoples` Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas, during a protest against the policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in central Athens, Greece, November 2016.

The Diyarbakir court rejected an appeal to the arrest of People's Democratic Party (HDP) Co- chair Selahattin Demirtaş on 14, November against the terrorism charges, reported DPA, according to Dogan News Agency.

Lawyer and a politician at the HDP Istanbul branch Levent Pişkin was detained at his home and reportedly taken to Bursa. Some of his personal belongings were also confiscated by the police.

Demirtaş was arrested along with Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and eight other HDP deputies on Nov. 4. Aysel Tuğluk, a lawyer representing the politician, said last week that Demirtaş is being kept in solitary confinement in Edirne Prison for the purpose of inflicting psychological torture, according to the Turkey Purge, a website monitoring Turkish authorities' response to the failed military coup attempt carried out on July 15.

The joint leaders of Turkey's pro-Kurdish opposition party, People's Democracy (HDP), were arrested along with nine other MPs on November 4.

Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ Şenoğlu were accused of spreading propaganda for militants fighting the Turkish state.
