No Machine Voting for Bulgarians Abroad – Central Election Commission
There will be no machine voting abroad, Stoil Tsitselkov, deputy chairman of the Public Council at the Central Election Commission - CEC, has told BNR's Horizont program.
As many as 325 polling stations have been opened across the world for the need of the Bulgarian diaspora, election authorities say on Sunday, as Bulgarians are voting for President.
Smaller queues are expected on Sunday compared to the previous weekend, when many expats lined for hours to cast ballots. Election authorities cite the insufficient number of polling stations and ballots in countries such as Turkey, but also the fact that many had not registered online before the vote and were not on the respective stations' electoral rolls and it took additional time to register in the station itself.
In Germany, where only twelve polling stations were opened for the needs of tens of thousands of voters, some who had been in a queue for hours failed to cast a ballot.
There have been changes to the locations of some polling stations in the US, Spain and France.
More than 100 000 Bulgarian nationals living outside the country voted last Sunday, twice the number of those who did in 2011's presidential election.
