The British government has decided not to stop cheap student loans to youths from the EU.

Despite the intentions of the country to leave the EU, the thousands of Bulgarians who have decided to study in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to use financing that covers semester fees for the entire length of their education for the academic 2017/2018 year, announced Eli Toncheva, manager of the Edlanta consultancy company for education abroad at the first edition of European Education in Varna.

32 universities from the UK, Germany, Holland, Denmark and Switzerland participated in the event.

Countries are the number one factor with respect to the choice of Bulgarian youths when deciding to study abroad. Most youths settle on the UK and, despite Brexit, their number is increasing, compared to 2015, commented Toncheva.

According to her, the migrant flow towards Germany has not affected negatively the plans of Bulgarian youths to study there. Their number continues to be large because Germany offers quality education at a reasonable price. The reason for this is that there are no semester fees but only administrative ones.

Thus, education turns out to be cheaper than in Denmark, where education is free-of-charge but the high standard of living makes solid financial means necessary.

Another reason for the peaking interest in Germany and Holland is the availability of majors in English, explained Toncheva.
